SACRED HEART
ACADEMY
May,
2001
Dear
Pat:
My
sister recently was able to find Sacred Heart’s home page – it was so
interesting to read the history and to learn what is currently in Sacred
Heart’s news. She looked up Sacred
Heart Academy for our mother, Ruby Wood, who was boarder during the years 1916,
when she was 10, until 1925. I believe
she was salutatorian of her graduating class, also best dancer, and most
popular. She is now 94 and is in
excellent physical and mental health and unfailing good spirits and
attitude. She will be 95 in July of
this year!
She
lived in Dallas until ’98 when she had to change her residence to Rockport, TX.
I
am sending copies of part of a book we had printed for her 90th
birthday. They tell of her escapades at
Sacred Heart. She wrote her memories
and a grand daughter drew the pictures.
Perhaps they will reach you in time for the next reunion.
With
very good wishes and thank you for going on the “net” – and with deep
appreciation from mother.
Sincerely,
Jerri

old Church and Rectory (left) in the background.
Editor’s note: The present day
church was built in 1934 replacing the one pictured. The present day rectory sits almost atop the site of the old
church pictured. The old rectory
(shown) served as the Parish Hall until the present day hall was built in
1949.
